Our out of town location allows us to place a fully restored implant for £1800. City centre practices charge £2500 plus for the same procedure using the same implant system.

What is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is normally made of Titanium and is a screw that is placed into the jawbone. The bone then grows into the threads over a period of a few months leaving an ideal platform to place Dental Crowns and Bridges.

What's involved in placing a Dental Implant?
Placing a dental implant is a relatively pain free straightforward procedure. Patients are given antibiotics before the procedure and numbed with dental injections. Sedation is not normally used but can be arranged for very anxious patients. Park Dental Company places dental implants in surgical conditions to minimise the risk of infection. The procedure normally takes no longer than an hour to complete.

Single tooth Implant
Single tooth implants can replace a tooth lost due to trauma or decay. The implant is normally placed and left to integrate with the bone for three months. After three months an abutment and crown are placed onto the implant. Sometimes it it possible to place an immediate crown when the implant is placed.

Implant Retained Bridge
An implant retained bridge is used when more than one tooth is missing. Three or four unit bridges can be placed between two or three implants.

Overdenture
An Overdenture is a denture that is held in place with ball abutments or locators that screw into the Dental implants. Ball abutments / locators act like poppers. The Overdenture is then clipped in place and can be removed for cleaning. Ideally an Upper Overdenture requires four implants to secure it and a lower overdenture requires two Dental Implants. Overdentures are ideal for patients who have difficulty coping with slack dentures.



Full Arch Restoration
A full arch restoration is used for patients who want fixed teeth on the upper or lower arch.

Problems faced with placing implants

Bone Levels and thickness
Bone levels start to deteriorate once teeth are lost or through untreated infection. Generally the longer teeth have been out, the less bone patients have. These problems can sometimes can be overcome by using shorter implants or by bone grafting. Bone grafting involves placing synthetic bone crystals or bone from elsewhere – usually the mouth but sometimes the hip, under the gum. These bone crystals or bone is left for six to nine months until sufficient bone has grown to place the dental implant. Sometimes bone has to be added during implant placement .

Sinus Lifts
Sinus lifts are used if patients don't have enough bone in the upper arch towards the back of the mouth. The maxillary sinus is gently pushed up to allow space for bone to be added.

X-Rays and CT Scans
For straightforward cases we can check bone levels by taking a Panoral X-Ray. If its a more complex case or bone levels and thickness are low we may take a CT scan. A CT scan gives a very accurate 3D image of bone levels allowing our dentist to plan the implant case far more accurately.



Guided Surgery
Guided Surgery involves the placing of dental implants in a case that has first been planned on a computer. A CT scan is taken of the jaw bones then loaded onto the computer in 3D. The dentist then plans where the implants are going to go using cutting edge software. This information is then sent to a specialised laboratory who make a guide (stent) that fits over the patients gums. This guide is used to drill the holes where the implants are placed giving very accurate implant placement. This is particularly useful for patients who want a complete set of fixed teeth very quickly (under an hour) or for patients with very little bone.
